Hi Dermot……
I vote for the engine and gearbox out as a whole……i have a 1969 TC with twin servos and just changed the engine over the weekend…….There is no need to disturb the servos or remove them at all…..you must remove the exhaust header though and the distributer cap ……yes just the cap…. and the rad of course….If you use a large oil filter it will be easier if you remove it before trying to maneuver around servos ….. get yourself an engine tilter……there are many different kinds but a basic one is just as good ...( you won't believe you ever attempted engine removal before with out one ) Like the manual get the rear of the car up in the air ………tilt the engine and carefully pull out keeping it to the right and voila……no need to rebleed brakes etc but good opportunity to examine and clean engine bay , and engine block and oil pipes etc etc…………………….pulling the gearbox out by itself is not really as hard but realigning it going back in is a hassle and without a lift your space to work is at a premium
