[Rovernet] P5 problem persists

When faced with such, I put a tee in the line right before the carb, run
a rubber line to a fuel pressure gauge, and put the gauge where I can
see it driving. Usually it winds up tied to the wipers. You will learn a
lot about how things work!

You have ensured it is not pulling a vacuum in the tank?
I got flummoxed by my P6SC by that - would quit at apparently random
times after some driving - 10 miles or 50.
But never going the 5 miles to town.
Or if you were doing stop/start errands.
Figured out it had to do with how much gas in the tank - more gas =
less miles.
So it was about the air volume in the tank.
More air = more miles
So it was not vented, except very slowly.
Because mud wasps had filled the vent lines with mud, eggs, larvae!
And on P6, all that is inside the C pillar!
After clearing the pipes, I put a screen over the end!

Given that this keeps repeating, you should be jumping out to check
spark immediately as the car stops.
Mounting a spare coil you can swap wires on is a good trick too.
I've lost track of your ignition setup - electronic yes?
Have you a points setup you can swap in?

Feel free to email me direct if needed.

All good: compression 140, 141, 140, 120, 145, 140. New plugs today. Adjusted cold start lever to ensure it closed properly. Checked carburetor tune again. Start quickly, runs beautifully for 20 or so minutes then begins to sputter till it shuts down. Once it cools, all is good for another short trip.
