[Rovernet] FW: DeDion rebuild update

Just finished rebuilding the DeDion and wanted to pass along some info regarding replacing the seals.  Anyone who may tackle this job, do NOT follow instruction #11 in the manual regarding "Overhaul".   #11 states: "Then the right-hand seal and retainer (underline mine) must be removed, by careful drifting, in order to replace seal and packing washer".
After driving around for countless hours to machine shops, drive-shaft shops, etc., etc., they all told me they didn't have a machine/tool which could possibly "drift" out the retainer.
As it turns out, replacing the right-hand seal is just as easy as the left hand seal.  Leave the retainer in place, and use a metal pick to prise out the old seal.  Take the new seal grease it up and just work it into the vacant space with your fingers.   The only tricky part is when you reintroduce the inner tube assembly into the outer tube, you have to carefully push it past the left-hand seal (the other end which has only a large, washer/ring the size of the seal sitting on top of it) which will require repeated tamping around its perimeter to keep it from popping out.   Once the inner tube has cleared it you're home free.
