Hello Geoff,  The brake light switch is indeed "dry", not hydraulically
operated.  It is pictured on page 111 of the original old Rover Three
Thousand five parts book that I have.  The index in Lucas books list all
the switches together, under S.  For example "Switch, stop lamp" is how
this appeared in the index of a Lucas catalog and the parts book, that I
had here.  I have a NADA P6B 3500 V8, or whatever you want to call it.
Years ago, I remade the small bracket to hold a very dependable Volvo 240
brake light switch, and attached the bracket in a suitable location, using
a bolt passing through the firewall that was close by.  When the plunger in
the switch is released, the lights come on.  I'll check and see what I
