[Rovernet] SU dashpot oil

Hey Tom

I always have used 20w50 oil in my HS8s and (now fitted) HIF6s. That seems a pretty good weight for damping without getting a lean spot on acceleration.

Incidentally, I read on the Rover forum that Rover used the 2" carbs on the 2000TC because the 1.75" carbs (HD6 and HS6) didn't like the harmonic vibration of the engine which caused piston fluttering in the carb at speed resulting in a lean mixture at higher engine revs. The more complex HIF6 carbs seem to be fine with it hence their use on 2200TC engines.

Best,

Steven
