[Rovernet] Rovernet Digest, Vol 51, Issue 1

HI Charles

The truth is of course much more complex, but it’s largely true. Starley was one of many experimenting with equal sized wheels and frame designs. But he picked the right combination of form & size, the “natural” combination as it were, it was a stunning success and suddenly everybody was following the same path.

Search for Starley & Rover and you’ll find lots. If you’re really not it, I can point you to at an archive of period bicycling magazines that cover it as current news, so no prejudice because it hadn’t been labelled the winner yet.

Yours
Vern
