[Rovernet] SD1 pistons and head?

Kent thanks for sage engine advice. I might ask the engine guy to
disassemble, check, and if round enough, then buy the piston set, for $249,
which seems a reasonable price.

Hi Goeff,
If you are planning to fit standard Buick pistons to standard Rover bore,
the pistons will fit and are compatible with Rover heads, but it
may not be a good idea. The bore on a used engine is not round (and
may not be round from the factory). A block should be bored .020 " over
and fitted with appropriate oversize pistons. At the very least, bores
should be measured for "out of round" and taper. An alternative would be to
fit new sleeves to the block and use the standard pistons, but
this would be more expensive than fitting the .020 pistons. Be aware
also that you will need to use Buick or P6B rings with Buick pistons as the
SD1 rings are thinner.

Roverly,
Kent K.
