[Rovernet] Starter trouble

Looking at the marks on the pinion (right way round btw, not sure if it’s even possible to reverse it) it looks like it’s not even fully engaging with the ring gear. 

I rebuilt my starter last year. It was still slow afterwards. It was only then I realized the battery terminal clamp was getting hot. The part that clamps down onto the cable was tight, but the strands of copper on the cable were heavily corroded under the insulation. I cleaned them, applied Vaseline and reassembled. All good after that. Jut a thought.
