What I started to do and still may is use this Range Rover bell housing
with a ZF4HP22 for my Rover P5. This transmission was in many different
makes but most popular were the Jaguar and BMW. I don't remember the
year but almost any ZF4HP22 will work. I don't think the rear section of
the Range Rover ZF4HP22 will work since it is set up for a transfer
case. If you should decide to go this rout you will need the oil pan
from a Range Rover 95 or earlier or Discovery 1 since the bell housing
slants the transmission 10 degrees. You will have to fabricate a special
mount depending on which ZF you use. The attached photo is the set up
for the P5 and is sitting on the frame of a P5B. It measured otu to be
within 1/8" of the V8 with the BG 35.
