Gianni,

Having no experience with Lotus, Lotuses, or Loti, my unreasonable bias is to disagree with you on the basis of having owned my 1970 3500S NADA 30+ years, and despite some periodic gnashing of teeth at some ridiculous bolts (not to mention the lovely inclusion of a few Whitworth bolts thrown in for good measure as British Leyland was mucking up everything they touched),   I increased my masochism and bought a 1970 Citroen DS21 i.e., about 3 years ago.    NOBODY, AND I MEAN NOBODY does engineering like the French.   Forget the monkeys, you need mice to access some of the evil insanity foisted on the DIY mechanic!!!!!!!

Having owned several, I think the plural is “Troubles”.
Lotuses, or Loti or Lotus' do not convey the reality of the acronym Lots Of Trouble etc.

I always said Rover ensure that the first three bolts will come off easily, and the last one is usually only accessible by the smallest hands and most clever tools, working at 1/16 of a turn at a time.

Lotus had a different approach. The first one comes off easily, and the last three can only be removed by a now extinct species of monkey with the smallest, most adaptable hands known to the universe.

Hi Bob,
    Come on Bob, jump back in, the water is fine and its never too late to go back to a Rover 😎. I did after 37 years (1967 P6 TC2000 plus a 1966 P5 3litre). They are unique and obviously the passion still runs in your blood, plus there are several good Rovers looking for a home.
   There are a few SD1's running around!

I still read posts here, even though my time of Rover ownership is decades past.  An 1980 SD1, first car I ever bought with my own money after starting my career as a Dentist.  40 years later I’ve had three Lotus including a well tracked Elise, a Bentley Continental GT Speed, two McLaren, the list goes on.

But gosh I loved that Rover.  I tried so hard to keep it going including another car for parts.  When we went to Goodwood Festival of Speed there was not one Rover SD1 on the grounds that we could find over four days.  Made me feel better in a way, they could not keep them moving over there much less a kid in the hills of North Carolina way back then.

But I still look back to the joy of ownership that car brought to me and my pals.  And I really appreciate that there are still people who bear an interest and respect for these cars.
