Hello, Steven...
Appreciate the insight...
Disconnected the mentioned relay and had no effect on the oil ignition light...
Did get the dash oil light working by taking another power lead from the harness, and left a label message on the wire for the "next" person who might be getting into the wiring loom...
Noticed a similar relay on another Italian export model photo from '76. Interesting observation about a relay for the headlamps.
Kindest regards,
Fred Lemna

I believe the relay might be for the alternator light. Normally a blue wire with a white trace is the dipped to main beam wire. So maybe a relay for the headlamps (not normally fitted). See attached pic for Lucas colour codes.
The wire should just go to the oil lamp directly. You can test that by grounding the wire that goes to the oil pressure switch ( not the sensor for the gauge - that’s the big can shaped one). If that’s grounded and the ignition is on the oil light should be on too. If not, suspect a blown lamp in the instrument cluster. If it does illuminate suspect the switch has died. You can get new ones from Wins International in the UK. I’ve found Geoff to be great to work with and sends stuff very quickly at a reasonable rate.

Hello from Chilliwack, BC
An -odd duck ’75 Rover TC 2000 badged with a factory-installed 2200 engine.
- According to schematics the oil sending switch wire (not gauge) should be brown with a white tracer…
Instead, in photo (not particularly clear) the existing wire is blue with a white tracer…
Checked that oil light bulb is not burned out…so bulb itself is OK…
So, assume when ignition is turned on the dash oil light should come on. Doesn’t at this stage…and no power through the existing blue wire with white tracer…
- Photo of a “relay” on the passenger’s side (LHD) inner fender...unsure what this relay does...everything works on the vehicle except for the dash light...
Any thoughts...
Regards, Fred Lemna
