Have a look inside the driver's door. I will send an email to your email address with where and what you are looking for. You will find key codes for the car. Also the chassis number, which I had to show to a North Carolina state trooper in order to get a title for my car, she had no idea where to look. Also if you have the original owners manual, you might find it there.
Then you can order a key from here to fit:
https://www.replacementkeys.co.uk/unionfs-series-keys-to-code.html
Or closer to USA:
https://www.triple-c.com/Original_Wilmot_Breeden_Keys.cfm
James.

The lock is attached to the decker panel, you can reach the bolt holding the latch bar, remove it and the bar can be removed. If you don’t mind not using the lock, that will fix it up for you. If you do want to use the lock, it’s possible but very fiddly to remove, put the bar back on and reinstall. At that point you’d really want to remove the decker panel. However, that opens up an entirely new set of issues to deal with. In this photo, the lock is unlatched. It’s the bottom most hex that you undo. The actual filler assembly is behind

Bob,
I believe a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate for your car may list all the key numbers (I know it does for my MGs). From that number, you can order replacement keys from several British car suppliers here in the USA. I can look the suppliers up if you get that far.
I was also under the impression that the numbers for these locks were stamped on the barrel, but of course that requires the unit to be open and apart..
Best regards,
Dan

After several years at various mechanics, my TC 2000 may actually be on the road this Spring. However, the first mechanic lost the gas cap key. (He also lost the ignition key, forcing me to replace the ignition lock….)
Any thoughts? The (current) mechanic says there’s no number on the lock. It also appears to be connected to some panel that goes under the rear window, so it may be a bear to remove the lock. Any idea on sourcing a key??
Thanks as always,
Bob
