It seems to be getting very hot as well. I did swap out the water pump and thermostat prior to this problem occurring. I wonder if a coolant blockage might be causing overheating and vapor lock? A timing light would show whether the distributor advance (base plate, springs, vacuum advance) is working. A Mighty Vac or similar hand vacuum pump could be used to test the vacuum advance diaphragm. I'm not sure if a failed diaphragm would ever show up as a temperature related problem.<br class=""><br class="">Or maybe it is more of a time-related problem, ie. 20 minutes of running time? This could be something like crud in the fuel tank gradually collecting on the pickup tube screen, or filter, or ???, then falling back when the engine stops.
