<div dir="ltr">I think that you are getting too hung up on the question of bevelling of the teeth. A 1971 car will have a pre-engaged starter motor which means that it does not start turning until the gear has moved so as to engage with the teeth on the ring
gear. This means that there is no need for bevelling on the teeth on the ring gear and flywheels and their associated ring gear do not have any bevelling. The bevelling is only needed with an inertia starter where the gear on the starter motor flies into the
ring gear after it has already started to turn, and the bevelling is needed to cushion the blow.</div>
