[Rovernet] DeDion overhaul woes

Hi Lance

Don’t mess with the brass bushings, they are thin and collapse easily.

In the past, I’ve just used a sharp probe to spear the seal and pull it out leaving the retainer in place. After the seal is removed I used a bearing puller to remove the retainer, though as I recall the first one I did I warped the retainer a little bit so decided I’d never do that again.

There are brass sleeves, 1 3/4" long inside each end of the outer tube. When the manual indicates 'careful drifing' to remove the retainer (which is about 3/4" long with a small lip, on the exterior of the outer tube) I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be carefully tapping on the inner brass sleeve to push the seal and the retainer off the end????
