Hi I have a RHD 3500 S (manual) When it came to repairing the clutch
master cylinder I had a major problem in that the clutch wouldn't
release properly.some one had used the wrong size master
cylinder.probably a 2000 one as it had a smaller diameter which gave a
lower pedal pressure ,but reduced the movement of the slave
cylinder, hence the reason the clutch wouldn't release.Whoever had done
it got round this by bolting the master cylinder with the clutch under
pressure ,I.E not completely released !!!
Fortunately,I managed to find the correct size cylinder ,I think it was
1/8 to 1/4 inch larger in diameter.I.E the ratio of the diameters gives
different leverage by the amount of fluid the master displaces in
relationship to the fluid required to move the slave. Sorry I cant
remember the exact size as it was over 10 years ago.

The Kiwi who sold me the Celica Supra 5 speed transmission/conversion kit indicated I should try to find an "orginal Rover" master cylinder. I'm hoping that means that the Rover clutch master cylinder would be the same if it were from a 2000, 2200 or European 3500 manual?
