[Rovernet] Blown fuses, need electrical help

To recap (its how my slow, electrician's brain troubleshoots).

- Headlight wiring sorted out by competent mechanic (used to Lucas?), was
there an earlier problem?
- You drove 1 - 2 minutes on low beam, engaged high beam for (time?) went
back to low beam but they did not work.
- Back to high beam for 2 minutes then they stopped working leaving you with
no headlights.
- Replaced "Headlamp RH Dip" fuse which blew repeatedly (on low beam?).
- If fuse is removed you have your high beam (all 4 lights) for how long?

I was just at the shop and I should of grabbed the shop manual, dang! Its
interesting that there are 2 lighting systems failing but only one blown
fuse, also that the "Headlamp RH Dip"
fuse should blow. Are there any other fuses that involve headlamps?

Lance,

How long did you drive before engaging the brights?

'70 3500s w/o AC. Had headlight wiring sorted out a couple of years
ago by competent mechanic but I didn't have the opportunity to drive the car
@ night until yesterday. Once I began driving with lights on I decided to
engage the brights. When I subsequently disengaged the brights I had no
lights what so ever. Switched back to brights which lasted a couple minutes
and then all headlights went dark (running lights, brake lights, etc., all
remained operational). At home I replaced the blown fuse on "Headlamp
RH Dip"---it blew repeatedly, but for some unexplained reason if I left the
fuse out altogether, I had all four lights on if I engaged the highbeam
switch.

Any help in running down this problem would be appreciated.

Lance
