[Rovernet] SD1 Rover brake servo compatibility

A few years ago, Rimmer re-imported a huge cache of SD1 parts from India, virtually enough to build a car, except for eng and trans. I don’t know if brake servos were in that lot.

For what it is worth, having owned and driven Rover SD1's a lot, I found that the braking system was poor at best especially in the rain. When the front calipers got wet you were driving without brakes at all and yes my vacuum servo was working fine, just inadequate. I installed a Chevy servo that was larger in diameter and the brakes worked in the hardest rain so end of problem. This was done before the tandem servos were available so you might want to fry one of them.

Nelson, I don't know whether or not Rimmer's is all teenagers on computer terminals these days, but someone there might also give you an authoritative answer to your question. Doesn't look as if they carry nearly as much SD1 stuff as they used to, but someone there should be pretty knowledgeable and have the Rover part numbers.

Hello everyone on RoverNet,

I have a good question to ask as i am still new on the Rover SD1's. What i have now is a 1980 Rover SD1 3500. The Question is the compatibility on parts from the TR's TR7 &TR8 if so. I am looking at Rimmers site show the TR8 servo-master combo upgrades yet out of stock using a modified Rover part using the Triumph listings. So i click onto the TR7's servos, it appears visually the same part as the SD1's. Will they fit the SD1's? I am not looking to fit a series 2 SD1 system just yet.

Any help on the issue on this subject i appreciate it, thanks
