As to whether or not the 2000 pedals can be used, the answer is yes.   I used a set when I installed a Celica Supra 5 speed manual transmission in my 3500S.  BUT, and this is a relatively big but, the biggest hassle was, relatively speaking, one of the smallest parts.  I'm referring to the fact that the brake light switch mechanism on the large brake pedal for the automatic gearbox had to be completely re-engineered to work with the 2000 brake pedal.
