Hi Lance,

I believe it was always possible to do this, however the badge usually got stuck & couldn’t be removed, meaning that you then didn’t have the blank when you weren’t using the kit, so most owners never did this.

I don't ever remember seeing the Viking badge insert into the handle of the spare tire holder rod???????  This was OEM from the factory, was it????
