If me memory serves…US cars had a damper that caused slow return to idle, as part of the smog system.

"* The throttle takes several seconds to drop back down to idle. Shop blamed the throttle set up, but what?s the solution?"
BOB, THE SOLUTION IS TO HAVE SOMEONE WORK ON THE CAR WHO DOESN'T MAKE EXCUSES TO COVER THEIR LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AS TO HOW THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE DESIGN CAN BE ADJUSTED [ORR REPAIRED] TO FUNCTION PROPERLY, UNLESS I MISS MY GUESS. THE THROTTLE LINKAGE AS ORIGINALLY CONFIGURED DIDN'T MALFUNCTION IN THAT WAY. AGAIN, "THERE ARE MANY MEN WHO HANG OUT THEIR SHINGLES AND VERY FEW WHO REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!"
I HOPE I'M NOT COMING ACROSS AS BEING HARD ON YOU; THAT'S NOT MY INTENTION. I DON'T KNOW WHAT OTHERS ON THE FORUM THINK BUT THAT'S MPO AS A ROVER TECH OF 54 YEARS.
WARM REGARDS, AND GOOD LUCK!!

Thank you for your enquiry for our parts and services. We offer the highest-quality spare parts for the vintage Land -Rover. Our staff is minuscule while the demand for rare and “unobtainable” parts for early Land-Rovers is relentless. While your concern is important to us, our ability to respond to each and every enquiry may be limited and stocks of many items are critically low.. We are primarily a restoration-based enterprise but when we have a surplus of a given item, we are able to offer excess stocks to our dedicated clients. If your need is urgent, we encourage you to contact us by phone, in person. Leaving a message is rarely effective, so we recommend direct contact. With many buildings full of parts, it is not always easy to locate obscure items, and the process is often time consuming. We hope you understand. Please provide complete details of your exact model including year, wheelbase, which side drive, engine, Country of origin, etc. When giving part numbers, please also state the catalogue number (typically found on the front cover). We appreciate your understanding and will do all we can to help.

Hi All:
My 200TC has been at the shop for 3 years now. It has never been on the road. I was up in Vermont last week and checked in on it. Several questions:
* Speedo and tach are totally dead. Gas gauge and temp gauge are way off. Shop says all the gauges were working OK at one point, but the ?voltage stabilizer? they put in from Moss isn?t working right. The voltage to the circuit is bad or wrong. Shop assumed that the P6 voltage is ?the same as other British cars?. How much should it be? Does Rover have its own voltage stabilizer??
* Shop put in Petronix ignition which works fine. They say that the original tach needs to be rebuilt to work with Petronix. What did others here do with tach after putting in Petronix??
* Anybody have a fan shroud for the engine fan?
* The shop outsourced the new muffler to a local shop. It is extremely loud and sounds ridiculous. I?ll go with a stock stainless system I can get from the UK (unless someone has one here in the US). But before I go through all that, how quiet is a stainless exhaust on this car? Anybody have a really quiet exhaust on their P6 and, if so, where?d they get it?
* The throttle takes several seconds to drop back down to idle. Shop blamed the throttle set up, but what?s the solution?
* An earlier ?repair? shop had wrecked my bonnet. The new shop installed the wrong replacement it sourced from Florida so I sourced one (with two ?bumps?) from someone here on the list. I believe it?s the correct one. See attached photo.
However, I also tossed out the stock black ?egg crate? grill (which looks terrible) and replaced it with the earlier chrome one. (Is that the one called ?the sharktooth? one?). Problem is that there is a bit of a gap between the bonnet and the grill. Any ideas?
* Anyone have good stock side mirrors (that go on the front doors)?
* The entire front right turn signal light assembly is broken. Anyone have a good working one?
Appreciate any thoughts you have.
Bob
