From what I'm reading you could easily have either a bad master, or slave
cylinder, or both. If it were my car I would do them first and determine
how well the clutch works after that.....AND if either of them is difficult
to change that you put in new, Genuine ones. Kitting a 50-year-old cylinder
can be a very long shot and the money you save going that route might be an
excellent idea if your time is worth about $1.00 an hour.

My 2 cents worth. I work on Rovers every day and have for almost 50 years.
