I had a short in my right hand fender lights  in my 1966 TC which melted the wiring under the dash.I obtained a factory manual found the wiring diagram for my rather rare model. The manual shows different wiring diagrams for various year models. I would get a factory manual and look there. I found the manual on e bay uk and bought it. I replaced the wiring and added fuse boxes I recommend.Good Luck!
